Secret areas: hidden entrances, time runs and cloaks

Secret areas are a separate layer of the world: you only get there by finding a hidden entrance, and inside you meet parkour courses against the clock rather than monsters. Over the summer they gained new transition points, runs with rewards and fully reworked platforms where you no longer get stuck on flat ground.

6new transition points
3maps per run
4cloaks to choose from

How to get there

  • Teleport rune. Six new points leading to secret areas were added to the rune (12 July).
  • Hidden entrances. Some areas open only through an entrance you have to find yourself. The quest and its description sit in the available quests tab under the Q key (15 July).
  • Counted while running. Secret areas and Atlas beacons now register even if you run straight through them: the trigger radius used to be small enough to miss at speed (26 August).

Timed runs

  • From level 79. The task is to clear 3 parkour maps within a strict time limit. Tokens are issued for a successful run (15 July).
  • Three tokens buy a cloak from the Lord of Trials near the Great Forge (15 July).

Rewards

  • Dandy cloak. Critical hit chance plus 1 percent.
  • Cloak of silence. Cast time minus 6 percent.
  • Cloak of speed. Movement speed plus 0.1 metres per second.
  • Fashion cloak. Attack interval minus 0.05 seconds.

The maps were rebuilt

  • Hall of Thousands. A texture was added so characters stop falling through the platforms (17 July).
  • Our own map editor. One of the largest developers of Perfect World tools handed over the sources of his map editor in exchange for our technical work. That opened access to the geometry of the courses (13 August).
  • Reworked collisions. The collision areas of the Hall of Thousands were heavily reworked with that editor: no more invisible walls and sliding off textures. Problem models were fixed on the two other courses (15 August).
  • Fixes from your screenshots. Collisions of additional textures you reported were corrected (19 August).

Stuck on flat ground: take a screenshot and send it to support, such spots are fixed one by one.

The dates in brackets are the updates the change shipped in. These news posts come out later than the changes themselves: there was simply no time to write them.
